Travel 15 minutes west of Silicon Valley and you'll find the Rancho San Antonio Preserve, a beautiful sierra like hideaway where you can escape the city and lose yourself on one of its of many winding trails.
Last fall while discovering this gem, I stumbled upon and tackled the mighty PG&E trail, which turned out to be a steep, 3.7 miles long trail reaching an elevation of 1,600 ft. A challenging trek that took me about 4 hours to complete. I had only planned to be gone an hour. Next time I'll read the map first.
During my hike, I had many close encounters with the bold and brazen wildlife folk. Well worth the detour.
