Fractured Realities

During my daily walks in my historic neighborhood, I found unexpected beauty beneath my feet—a canvas of history, human connections, and emotions etched into the very sidewalks I tread upon. These sidewalks, some bearing the weight of a century's worth of footsteps, revealed themselves to me as a fascinating realm of visual storytelling.

My art explores these fractured narratives, where the simplicity of geometric forms converges with the depth of human experience. Each square of poured concrete, weathered and cracked by years, becomes a unique tableau, a moment suspended in the tapestry of existence. The fractal cracks, born from profound life events, fracture these squares into jagged elements, evoking a sense of tension, division, and distance within the composition.

Through the language of color, I bring these stories to life. Each hue, every brushstroke, contributes to the narrative. One element may stand out as the protagonist, vivid and compelling, while others harmonize in monochromatic palettes to symbolize families or communities, united or divided by life's trials.

Beyond the immediate visual impact, these layouts also evoke fragmented memories, akin to the distortion of facts over time. The fractures and smaller bits and pieces become metaphors for disjointed recall, inviting viewers to explore the evolving nature of memory and the subtle erosion of experiences. Through this interplay of form, color, and storytelling, my artwork becomes a tapestry of the human condition, capturing the essence of fractured moments frozen in the concrete of time.
